Raising Awareness

The Calgary PMA contributes funds to the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) based in Ottawa, Ontario. The CPMA is a not-for-profit organization that represents companies that are active in the marketing of fresh fruits and fresh vegetables in Canada from the farm gate to the dinner plate. We support and promote their campaign for the awareness of healthy eating through their Half Your Plate initiative and the Freggie™ Children’s Program, the youth component of the Half your Plate program.

Working locally, the Calgary PMA also raises awareness of fruits and vegetables in the community, supporting charitable events, fundraisers and schools with their healthy eating initiatives. We provide fundraising opportunities, support and marketing materials in an effort to encourage consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables for overall better health.

Freggie Program

The Calgary PMA promotes the free, in-school Freggie Program developed by the National Canadian Produce Marketing Association. It assists teachers in Calgary and Alberta schools with healthy eating initiatives. The Calgary PMA offers a monthly newsletter promoting different fruits and vegetables, along with access to our Fun Fast Food Posters and appearances by our mascot FREGGIE. Contact us at info@calgarypma.ca to register.

Tom’s Kids Bursary Program

This bursary was developed by members of the Calgary PMA to help local schools promote and encourage students to eat fruits and vegetables. We also offer fundraising opportunities, mascot Freggie visits and support materials. Schools do not have to be a part of the Freggie Program to qualify. Calgary and area schools can complete the application and submit it to info@calgarypma.ca (deadline May 31).
